How long have you been in Roller Derby? 4 Years
How did you get involved with the sport? Saw a poster in a bar bathroom downtown and thought that sounds like fun. Plus I was new to the area and wanted to meet people.
Describe your experience learning to play Roller Derby: I have never really skated before so starting from nothing to understanding the motions, it took me over a year.
What is your Pre-Derby athletic background? I played sports here and there for fun.
Have you sustained any Derby-related injuries? Partial tear on my ACL, but all healed up with no surgery
What’s the story behind your Derby name? I get asked this question a lot. People think that it has to do with a deck of cards. But really it’s a condition that most Asians get when we drink alcohol, we turn red. Look it up if you don’t believe me. 😉
How would you describe your playing style? Supporting Blocker
What do you like to do when you’re off the track? Cooking, hanging out with friends, mostly working.
What’s been your favorite Derby Moment so far? “Soul Crushing” a jammer. Knocking them out of bounds and backing them up over and over until they scream for mercy
Why do you play Roller Derby? I play for the exercise and the great friends that I have made. Those relationships I would not trade in for anything in the world.
Do you have any advice for anyone who wants to play Roller Derby? It’s a great way to get some exercise, meet some great people, and take out your pent up aggressions.
